I have a question for you that may sound somewhat off the wall. How is it, in your view/understanding, that there seems to be such a big thing with "Russian Mail Order Bride" services ? Here in the USA there are constantly news stories and made for TV movies portraying this phenomenal. Ever since the Soviet Union had fell apart it seems that this has been mushrooming with more and more agencies popping up on the internet as well as in print advertising and even on television advertising on cable TV. Its hard to believe, at least from what I've read and heard that Russian women are so keen in fleeing Russia that they are basically marrying complete strangers just to leave. Yes, I figure that a percentage of the Mail Order Bride Industry is most likely shaded but there are stories that show this not always to be the case. To get my point across more accurately I am not aware of any American Mail Order Bride Agencies. Is it because there are 100 Russina women to every 10 Russian Men ? I just do not get it. Anyway, later . . .
i'm far from being a specialist in the field. but if the phenomenon is really as pronounced as you say, well i guess the reasons would be lower living standards in russia, popularity of western lifestyle in russia, popularity of russian women in the west, and tradition that started during the time of mass emigration from the soviet union
