I'm joking with you.

oh, where did you take a human translator! i want to borrow them to use them for my projects when i'm especially lazy, because i am a human translator and i could use some slave labour!

You are not the only one who can cast hypnotic spells across many borders... I chat with Russians on messenger quite regularly.

That link led to a great read, thanks.

They strike meas... people. Some of them I like, some of them I really like. I love the accent, sometimes we are talking and information gets lost in the translation. LOL, I used "My bad" with one of them one time, and lost him for fifteen minutes.

I have a thing for really intelligent people, which most of them are, so I respect and admire most of them, regardless of how they 'strike' me.

I want to gp meet them, but I detest snow, so I'm not hella torn.

ok, I don't understand. Well, maybe I need to read more. That guy is living in Moscow, but not Russian?

i thought that 'how do they strike you' = 'how do you find them', but you seem to be emphasizing 'strike' in a way that makes me doubt. oh, i hope that i sound intelligent.
i love snow! at least, this winter

yes, I understood the intention of the word you used.

You do definately definitely strike me as intelligent, but then, of course, what else to expect from a Russian woman man who translates technical manuals, reads and writes poetry, and is a photographer?

Snow is evil. Beautiful, but evil.

yes, but i don't know anything about him, i found that link only today. in fact, i was joking about russians being bad - i just happen to like racist jokes for some reason, i think it's rather awful, in fact

i agree, and i think that's exactly because i'm russian. still, i don't understand why you emphasized 'strike' like that. like in, "I respect and admire most of them, regardless of how they 'strike' me"
sorry for being a bore, but some things anglophones say just leave me puzzling

you have far too many userpics

You're not a bore... I simply quoting your word. How someone strikes me is rarely how I find them. I have been offended or put off by someone, only to later find them intriguing and lovely on the inside. Similarly, I have been initially enamored and taken with someone, only to later find them to be an insufferable bore and narcissistic, or pompous and rude. I rarely trust my first impression, or "strike" if you will. And I take it too far in letting others know I don't judge or follow my first instinct with someone too freely.

Nothing more than semantics, and the overly analytical mind my skull is cursed with. Basically, it's me, not you. I probably shouldn't have used the emphasis on the word. See how I manage to get things all wrong?

oh, ok. then i guess 'strike' is more about first impression, i didn't know that.

by all means! is that the main reason people get paid accounts?

(no subject)

Date: 2006-03-22 03:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sheila-peitra.livejournal.com
lol, I mean, because, technically, it's your copyrighted image that I used. Some people get hinky about that, so I was checking.

And paid accounts are great for storage space of pictures, more layout features, and yes, more userpics. Those are my top three.

From: [identity profile] vriad-lee.livejournal.com
yes, i understood that you asked about the picture et cetera.
i use separate hosting (which isn't a problem since i have a hosting account for my sites anyway), and i never use other userpics, and i never change the layout. what i'm really missing in this livejournal thing is that there is maximum number of tagged posts you can display (100?) and that you can't navigate earlier posts in the normal way (ie 50 posts back instead of 'previous day'). those two really kill me, because, for example, by now i have many more than 100 dog posts

From: [identity profile] sheila-peitra.livejournal.com
really? I don't use tags, so I didn't know.... does the maximum number of tagged posts displayed change with a paid account?

Oh yes, I am familiar with being about to change how many posts back I want to view. Yes, that is convenient.

(no subject)

Date: 2006-03-22 03:30 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] vriad-lee.livejournal.com
i think that doesn't depend on whether you use a paid account.
what i meant was that when you navigate a journal, going back from 'latest posts', at some point you don't have the option to navigate 'x posts back', but only to 'previous day'. and since there might be no posts several days in a row, navigation becomes pain in the ass

I wonder what that point is... I just went back in my journal, all the way to the beginning, and I never got the "previous day" link. It took me back 20 entries every time.

Maybe I just don't have enough entries to make it do that to me.

whoa, what a fucken glitch. i skipped 390 entries back, and the link is still there. don't mind me, i must be mad or something - unless they have changed something in lj recently

ha-ha-ha, there is a limit, after all: 390 entries back

http://vriad-lee.livejournal.com/?skip=390

if you click 'previous page' on that page, you go to the previous day
