Yes, but they're far from lush green sloping meadows. They're rocky hills, eaten bare. They're not easy places to grow grass, so we feed hay and grain twice a day.
i used to work on a milk farm for a few months when i was 18. we used to feed cows with grass in the summer and with hay and mangel during winter, and also i remember how once they brought a truckful of 'substandard' melons and watermelons for cows. also i remember how some cows where taken off to the slaughterhouse once, some balking cows were kicked up the deck to the truck. also, there was a deep pit just behind the cowshed, always filled with dung, and once a cow fell in there, and she was up to her neck in it. i lassoed her horns, and then a tractor pulled her out.
