Very good close-up shots. Do you use film or digital?

I hate pigeons, though.

in Caucasus pigeons are different. they look more like collared turtle-doves, and ordinary street pigeons sit in pigeonlofts there.

Yes. I tried an higher ISO before but the images come out too noisy. I plan on getting the 20D soon for I understand it not only captures better images at higher ISO's (same as ISO 400 at 800) but it also has better and quicker focusing and starts up instantly, among other improvements.

when it's sunny i use 500, but i switch to 800 for birds-in-flight stop-motion pics. at 1000 some noise is noticeable

Before I got involved w/digital I used the following camera :
Image
One thing that I have found very useful is auto focusing (when it works right) in that it allows me to capture candid shots more often. My first digital was a Canon G2 and while that was in the shop once I got a Canon S50. I once tried to give the S50 away away to one of my LJ friends since they could not afford to buy a camera but they declined the offer, strange I thought, particularly since they lived quite far away and it obviously was simply nothing more than a gesture of friendship or whatever on my part. Anyway, did you start w/film or jump right into digital ?
