You know. I don't get it. Why don't people adopt these dogs as pets? Do they actually sell pets in pet stores there? I don't see why they would. You could just grab one off the street. Maybe it's because they cannot be tamed or something. The whole concept of wild dog packs is completely foreign to me.

the same is often said about orphanages in russia. why boost birth rate if there are millions of homeless children?
well, they do sell dogs in pet stores of course. but many people prefer pure-breds. many take dogs and cats off the street. but there's slack birth control for street animals in russia, that's the reason i guess.

Yeah. I never quite understood the preference for purebred. We have have four mutts at our house and they're awesome. There's also that whole hybrid vigour thing associated with cross-breeds. Purebreds often have so many genetic defects from inbreeding.

Is Day a particular breed?

he's an ireland setter according to a vet. some man gave him to my parents in the street as a pup. the man himself thought him to be a cocker spaniel if i remember correctly. he said something in the lines of 'i see that you're good people, please adopt him'.
i prefer mongrels too, although day is a great dog.

Tell the vet that it's impossible to have a black Irish Setter.

Why...of course not. I simply imply he comes from a line of very precicely mixed genetics which stand alone in their superior originality.
