style is a cheap thing, style is something anyone can afford. covering up shallowness is the main function of style, it has other uses, but that shouldn't fool you. people adore style, if people want to fuck you, they nearly always want to fuck you for your good style. style is a thing to spurn, or, better, to use as jewellery, with irony and detachment. but just spurn is good enough. there will always be good artists dying in poverty, because nobody cares for depth, but everybody looks for an easily recognizable style. people are lazy, and people love beautiful things, and beauty will save the world, n'est pas

the fact that i have no style is stylish. isn't it sad, when you try so hard to be style-less and then style-less becomes in style.

Stop with your teenish intonations and come live in France darling,
Serge Gainsbourg fucked them all, the most beautiful girls on earth.

Haha come on you provocator, don't you get
all upset for a minor provocation.

I know nothing about the most beautiful girls
on earth - mostly because i don't give a fuck about them.

Well, i said in France, didn't imply the girls
were french. Like, say, every one now knows girls
are gorgeous in Canada. The russian ones that is.

that was a compliment to her, actually, since by 'russian' everyone means russian/jewish these days. or in this journal

no way, i'm too inclined to self-criticism for that, besides i don't have that sort of sick puffed cow dreaminess in my eyes. but i know people who do, i may pass that idea on to them.

Whether burning a 500 franc note on television, writing a reggae take-off on «La Marseillaise» or appearing half naked with his 14-year-old daughter in the video for «Lemon incest», Gainsbourg always kept his name in print and his face on the covers of magazines and newspapers.

just the sort of motherfucker, right.

Don't be fooled by that style-less style,
the guy was indeed a great poet, rather
poorly physically skilled, and still very
successful with women.

what do you mean, poorly physically skilled, did he have a premature ejaculation problem? also, i quite admit he could be a good artist, but people like that, making a point of being provocative/stylish(dali is a good example) are not the ones i want to explore. at least, not in the first place. because, firstly, chances are that all you see is actually all there is, although much more seems to be implied, and, secondly, you have to struggle your way through their pose to see what they are actually trying to say, and i'm a lazy person. i mean give me something unpretentious for god's sake, i'm too lazy for all that lustre, and i can't respect people who invest so much effort into creating a public image for themselves. although, probably, many talented and respectable people do.

Though of course am there making a point i do not
really follow either.

I personally have the greatest contempt for
provocators for the only sake of provocation,
like all those Dada, plenty of surrealist crap,
André Breton 'n' all.

that's a question of priorities. there are too many pictures to look at, and i will be puting off the ugliest/weirdest off for as long as i can. maybe i am missing a lot that way. but i'm uneducated enough to ignore that, there's too many obviously interesing things to explore

Don't you mean fashion? It's fashions that can be bought. Style you either have or you haven't.

i guess you can develop or imitate it? it's all about pretence anyway. you have to watch trends to be accepted, of course, that's where fashion comes in (?)
