Well, wiener-dog (while I think it is an apt name) is just casual. It's a dachshund. Seems like a German name, though I wouldn't know what dachs is. My terrible grasp on the German langage is rusty.

Taxa is cool.

Most people here just say Dok-sund. People avoid saying that german chhhh sound.

Dachs means badger in German --- Dachshund therefore is "badger hound".
