проблемы с жарой, живем под крышей - спасаемся бегством :) сначала я жила с чужой кошкой, сейчас переехала к морской свинке, потом поеду жить с двумя котами :)
no, white is the word for caucasoid. i'm looking for a word meaning someone with caucasian origins, i.e. from caucasus. many or most guest workers in moscow are from caucasus. the pc way to refer to them is 'a person of caucasian nationality/origin', and the un-pc ones -- 'blacks', 'black-assed' etc, because their skin is much darker than that of russians...
my cheesy-ass dictionary doesn't think so. i think it would have to be "someone from the Caucasus region". either that, or refer to them specifically by their nationality, which, in the case of Georgians, would still be ambiguous to an American. :)
only to someone who (a) hasn't seen very many jews and (b) hasn't seen any people from the Caucasus region.
in other words - not really.
p.s. if you want to see 3 specimens of jewish child (me, my brother and my cousin), you can look in my photoalbum here: http://bagu.ette.org/gallery/v/Gs-Albums/family-album/
Ah, ok. People where I live are sensitive about pictures of their kids.
I was at the beach a few weeks ago, and my son started playing with another little boy. I was taking pictures of my son, and the mother of the other son approached me to ask me if I was taking pictures of her child as well. I was taken aback, and said said that he may have been in a couple of them, and she said that she really didn't mind, and wouldn't make me delete them, but could I let her know first next time.
I was like WTF, I didn't mind her asking, but I was sitting right next to my kid with my camera out taking pictures of him. And she she let her kid walk over and start playing with my kid and my kid's toys, and then acts like I should have stopped taking pictures until I cleared them with her.
Ugh, that is the most extreme example, but I've had hassles with kids and pictures..... I don't even try anymore. I have a zoom lens, but to get a clear pic, I need a tripod.
