These are absolutely fantastic. You defintely must find time (and courage, I think it's more a question of confidence than time, isn't it?) to continue your drawing. The main thing is that you have successfully caught the expression of the eyes. That's very difficult. Who cares about a bungled back leg when the eyes are so alive? Well done!
well thanks! yes, of course, it's a matter of courage and mood. it's very difficult (for me) to keep between the two extremes of not doing something at all and forcing myself to do that in a way that untimately turns me off that activity. for me, that's the most difficult task with any work (and especially artictic work).
Yes, I can understand that. You have to do nothing long enough to be ripe for the inspiration. It's no good forcing it. But then when the inspiration comes, remember: "I am your idea, use me or lose me." The sufis tell this story about not-doing and doing: A sheikh and his servants are going through the desert. The sheikh tells one of his servants to tie up the camels for the night. The servant is tired and can't be bothered, so he prays to Allah to look after the camels. The next morning, the camels are gone. "But I prayed to Allah," cried the servant. "Ah yes," said the sheikh, "but Allah has no hands of his own, Allah has to use yours."
i just found an old comment where i was explaing to someone how difficult it is to learn russian: http://vriad-lee.livejournal.com/256408.html?thread=1776024#t1776024 i really wonder how people do it unless they live here from birth!
i agree with the sheikh, though the thought "I am your idea, use me or lose me" is rather unsettling, i think when such thoughts cross my mind i usually lose inspiration. it's difficult, really, and of course it's very individual, i.e. you need to find your own way to condition yourself into doing something...
