Yes, it's funny what other people see in your work, isn't it? I have tried to get used to the fact that what I publish no longer really belongs to me but it's still weird sometimes. I'm glad someone likes winter because all my friends, including of course BBB, absolutely hate it and live only for summer. There is no such thing as bad weather in nature, of course, but I must confess I prefer hot sun too. So what is it about winter that you like?
that happens all the time! ie people interpret what i know i did accidently as something having a deep meaning... i don't know why i prefer winter, it's counter-intuitive because winter has less details, but somehow i find it more beautiful. i realized it last winter for the very first time, i took many long walks then, and i thought it was some sort of glitch, and then in the summer i said 'well, summer is good too' a couple of times. but yeaterday i took my first winter walk, and saw quite clearly that no, there was no mistake, winter is much more beautiful than summer... god knows, probably i love the colors, the contrast... it would be so hard to live in brasilia or israel... :-) i guess on 'the rainy island' the winter is very much like in russia?..
Winter is very good in Filey, my home by the North Sea. I have just come back from holiday there (see drawings). All the summer crowds are gone and the beach is empty, except for local dog walkers and fishermen. Sometimes you get very bright blue skies and temperatures as warm as plus 15 at Christmas. But the winds can be ferocious and when the sea mist comes down, you know why my island is called Tumanny Albion. You would be very welcome in my home in England and I mean that sincerely. You could have a key and live there for a while and not be a tourist.
