about the bulbs: i first chose the first, but then my good friend natasha said that she liked the second pic better. funny how everyone said 'first'. i'm with the crowd! i think that the second picture is more of a still-life, and i think it looks much cozier

That's a perfect example of the 3-thirds rule,
the main subjects of the picture are the bulbs,
if you put them right in the centre, the eye
finds it somewhat plain and boring, whereas
if you introduce assymetry in your picture
by putting the main subjects at a 1/3 distance
of the edges, the eye finds it much nicer,
original and exciting.

as with every rule,
exceptions are numerous*
