half of Brooklyn is babooshkas on lavochkas as far as the eye can see. :)
trees are also abundant in Brooklyn. there was even a book/movie by that title ("a tree grows in brooklyn")
in Manhattan we have mostly bums on lavochkas. and working types on lunch break. or tourists. trees are found on more expensive residential streets and on the edges of parks and scattered here and there.
it's not as bucolic as Balashikha, of course, but also not as cold most of the year, so there's more of a chance to enjoy the trees in bloom.
gorgeous. your self-portrait is fantastic! does the hand-cupping effect create that gorgeous vignetting? i love this one, too:http://www.grasshopper-toys.com/livejournal/3/march_photos21.jpg
