Oh she's beautiful. Is she doing well in your kitchen? I gather crows are very intelligent and like to eat everything.... does she vocalize any? I am surrounded by screaming parrots and cockatiels and finches all day so a crow's caw may be refreshing... On another note ...are you doing any other artwork these days?
yes, she's very intelligent and she eats everything or almost everything. i have a picture somewhere of two crows pecking at an apple. we'll have to keep her at home for ~2 months until she grows her wings. but she's never uttered a crow yet or any other sound except loud pecking on the cardboard box - she has a really hefty beak, and punches cardboard with one stab. i really can't stand screaming parrots though, especially cockatoos! i do several projects, but at such a slow rate that i'm never quite sure they'll be finished. one of them is a needle-felted cow that i posted an early version of some while ago. i'm finishing and coloring the cow now.
Please take a photo of the crow. I'd love to see its portrait. I am so glad you are letting her recover from whatever trauma she went through. Do you reckon it was animal related or people related? She looked to me like a penguin in the original photos!! Glad you are working on the cow.... does Natasha give you good tips or do you like to wing it? I hope the photos of it make it to your site..... PS is this a large cow or a tinsy tiny cow? hee hee
i have no idea what may have happened to the crow as her feathers appear to be cut rather than torn. crows are very versatile in self-expression, they have more different postures than any other bird i know of. in the photo were you say she looks like a penguin i think she actually pretended to be a bittern. i think she imagined to be invisible on the pile of asphalt. here's an example: http://vriad-lee.livejournal.com/127815.html the cow is about 20 inches - huge for a needle-felted animal. natasha gives me some technical tips now and then, of course!
what a fabulous creature and what a fascinating beak.... it looks very efficient!! I think the bittern idea may be the right one ... blending in seems to be ITS specialty. I wonder if we have them here in the states.... bittern research coming up!! as far as the cow is concerned my God man you are ambitious!! I must see this stately creation when it is done..... it can't be as cute as the pig that I love so much... well maybe it can......
OK I grant you, the cow you just showed me is not cute as the pig but on the other hand it has a inner emotion and a more soulful expression. I hope this new cow has the same... you certainly have the best instructor in the entire world to help you out. Honestly, I have searched the world over and no one is as good as your Natasha!!!
