yes, that is true! we were never able to set our magpie free because he could not fly. he was abandoned before he learned.

my mother handraised a shrike that she found, and then taught it to fly and let her go. Sometimes the bird came back to say hello to her!!!!! :)

yes, they adapt to the wild and come back, i've heard that more than once. she started to shed feathers - maybe new will grow soon
