i mean, i made her! i took her to a craft shop on arbat st. today, she will be sold for ~$130, of which i will get 2000 rur. that is, if they do sell her it has nothing to to with sewing, it's a pretty simple technic called 'needle-felting'. i can teach you if you're interested :)
Oh, I'm sure it will find an enthusiastic customer. I especially like the eyes. In fact, I should have known it was your work from the eyes. As with your drawings (perhaps not always 100 per cent successful in other ways), it's the eyes that are irresistable. You have a real talent for the windows of the soul :)
Unfortunately, in the modern world, all our creative work is valued cheaply. But we have to carry on, don't we? Perhaps I could commission you (or possibly you and Natasha) to make something for me? My brother Michael and his Russian wife Irina will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary on March 1. Do you think you could do an animal wedding couple? Michael was born in the Year of the Pig, so he is pig of a kind, although he looks nothing like one. He is tall, thin and dark-haired. He is an optician, so eyes and glasses are very important to him. Irina was born in the Year of the Cat and she loves cats, although again she doesn't look much like one. She is pretty, a little plump although not fat and with brown curly hair. She is a pianist. What do you think? I am going to try and do one of my paintings for them. That could be the card and your work could be the present. But no hurry with this. Sleep on it. Enjoy the praznik for now :))
you see, selling abroad is a hassle, so when she does make a toy, she tries to sell it in moscow. but i will let her know that you wanted an animal. what sort of animal?
Yeah, I suspected selling abroad would be a problem. Which is sad, as they're perfectly suited for selling by mail, being lightish and not easily broken. (I assume.)
it's not a problem, natasha sold many toys abroad, it's just not so convenient as selling in russia. the only way to get payment would be via western union, i'm afraid.
Except I'd have to get out of my chair and go into town! And they'd probably charge $20 or so for the privilege, going by the last time I asked about sending money overseas. But that's neither here nor there, in this case.
So consider that an order for when (or if) Natasha ever has nothing better to do... (I'm old and very patient...)
