yes, i think she's regularly beaten by an alcoholic in her family. probably husband, or maybe even son. sort of traditional thing in russia.

i just realized that i don't know other examples, and i certainly don't see women with bruised faces in the street often. it's more like a 'common fact' that such things are wide-spread. ot the other hand, to beat people, you don't have to beat them in the face.

yeah, i had a friend who was beaten by her husband a lot, and he never hit her where you could see it. :(
