ha ha. work time! street sweeping shit cleaning et cetera. the point is that you do it on saturday and for free for your hometown/alma mater or whatever. in soviet times, it was universaly obligatory if i remember right, and now it's for students, schoolkids and enthusiasts.
Yeah. Mainly whites of European origin until recently - children of the British Empire and all that. We used to call England the Mother Country until a few decades back. From a social POV we're still very western, though with an ever-increasing Polynesian influence these days.
