What was the full sentence? Better still, link to the thread, so we can see the comments as well. You could use "human shadow" or "human's shadow", depending on context.

Your English is very good in my opinion, in that there's no more gramatical errors than most native speakers seem to make in their journals.

For bad examples of English, try [livejournal.com profile] grammarpolice. Photographed any fruit dogs lately? :-)

Shadow of a... whatever.

Saying human shadow implies that the shadow itself is actually human. Like I said, it's not a big mess-up.
